January 1718: London, England- Following the advice of members of the Royal Navy, King George I recently passed an order deploying warships to actively hunt pirates. Ever since the War of Spanish Succession came to an end, pirates began recruiting former British sailors to their crews and roaming the seas from the Caribbean to the North American coast, preying on weakly armed merchant ships. By passing this order and deploying warships to hunt pirates, the members of this committee hope to finally bring an end to piracy in their seas. However, it is likely that this action will not be enough. Delegates in this committee will need to come up with creative solutions to both deter citizens from turning to piracy and to eradicate pirates already active in the Caribbean.
