This committee follows the treaty signed between Athens and Corcyra in 434 BCE. This action further sparks conflict between the Greek city states already vying for power. Immediately as a response to this, Sparta breaks the treaty with Athens to retain equal power as they begin to see Athens as a growing threat. The Peloponnesian War Committee will focus on the growing conflict as Athens tries to figure out the best way to respond. This committee will combine two views on war, either diplomacy or conflict and raging war. Through both Athen’s, Sparta’s and outsiders’ points of view, delegates will be asked to decide what methods will work to end ongoing conflicts between the three sides while promoting their interests and the interests of their respective groups.
