70.8 million people. This is the total number of forcibly displaced people in the world as of 2019, the highest it has been during the 70 years of UNHCR history. This may be just a “random big number” for us. But on the other side of the globe, it represents a twelve-year-old boy swimming for his life or a young father risking his life to save his daughter. The UNHCR works for these people. It is a UN body that works for a sustainable solution to the refugee crisis around the world. As member nations of the UNHCR, delegates of this committee will work to address the world’s biggest current displacement crisis, which is in Venezuela. Further, the members of this committee should work to incorporate education into a sustainable solution for this crisis.
