The country of India was thrown into the international limelight after the assassination of the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her two Sikh bodyguards. Quickly following that, the Hindu people took to revenge: assaulting and killing as many Sikhs as they could see. Mobs roamed the streets as people conducted brutal hunts for Punjabi and Sikh people, including women and children. This was worsened by members of the Indian Congress, where members were found guilty of inflaming these protests and even organizing attacks. Congress party leaders often instigated violent events and fed into the public’s insanity. Delegates, your job as government officials is to discuss which policies should be taken to move the country forward and into peaceful negotiations.
